Chandigarh, known for its unique urban planning and vibrant culture, served as the perfect backdrop for my recent street photography adventure. Usually, I like to photograph buildings and trees in the city but this time I wanted something different. So, with my camera, I set out to document the people of the city in the warm glow of the morning sun. Although I still clicked cars and trees along the way, all in all, it was a great experience.
Exploring Chandigarh’s Core
Sector 17: Where Daily Life Unfolds
Stepping into Sector 17, the bustling heart of Chandigarh, I aimed to capture the early morning rhythm of daily life. I was hoping to capture the shopkeepers setting up shops etc. but there barely was any action. I took 3 shots at the Plaza and left. At the next traffic light, I was awestruck by the morning light. So, I started shooting anything that came my way.
Rose Garden: Nature Amidst the Urban Landscape
The morning sun bathed everything in its gorgeous golden light and I turned my lens towards the serene Rose Garden, as I was parked outside. Amidst the urban hustle, the garden offered a peaceful retreat. Candid shots of individuals immersed in the morning walk amidst blooming flowers added variety to my collection of photographs.
Panjab University: A Microcosm of Cultures
Wandering through the sleepy campus of Panjab University (I was there on a Sunday), my goal was to freeze moments that reflected the diversity of the morning hour at the campus. The university presented the rich greens of life(trees). I need to revisit the campus to capture it in its full glory.
Playing with Light and Shadows
The golden morning light played a crucial role in enhancing my street photography. It sculpted intriguing shadows, brought out textures, and added an ethereal quality to the scenes I captured. Whether it was the interplay of light on the city’s architecture or the shadows dancing on the faces of passersby, each click felt like a brushstroke on a living canvas.
Finding Beauty in Everyday Moments
My lens didn’t focus solely on people; it also explored the details of cars, trees, and the often-overlooked elements that make up the city’s visual narrative. Ordinary scenes transformed into extraordinary frames, celebrating the unnoticed beauty that often escapes our hurried glance.
Sharing My Perspective
This post isn’t just a showcase of my work; it’s an invitation to experience Chandigarh through my lens. Each photograph captures a moment in time, providing a glimpse into the city’s heartbeat. I hope these images resonate with viewers, forming a deeper appreciation for the beauty embedded in the everyday.
Reflecting on my street photography journey in Chandigarh, it’s clear that the city’s essence extends beyond its planned layout. It resides in unscripted moments, the interplay of light, and the diversity of life unfolding each day. Through this collection, I aim to share what I saw and the emotions and stories woven into the frames — an ode to the artistry hidden in the streets of Chandigarh.
